Biochemistry of Love

Love can’t be explained… right?

Everyone says that love can’t be explained, love is love, love is a feeling, and you just feel it or not. Well, love can be explained.

Our brain produce some hormones, which are called “drugs of happiness” and these are the cause of a big part of the process of falling in love.

  • Oxitocyn is the one related to the sexual part.
  • Dopamine is the one related to kindness
  • Endorfine  is the one related to the balance of our emotions
  • Epinefrine is the one related to the achieve of goals
  • Finilananina is the one related to the enjoying of life

When we fell in love, we produce about 7000 more dopamine than the usual and that is mixed with dopamine and finilananina. When a mother gave birth to his child, she produces a high quantity of dopamine.

Of course, you can produce these hormones doing exercise, loving what you do, being positive, and having a good self-esteem.

Now, we all know that we can have sex without falling in love, but if you have sex with the same person, you will ended up falling in love, because your body react with these hormones, and it’s going to ‘demand’ you to have feelings.  That is the reason why we can see in movies that friends or people without feelings for each other, after having a lot of sex ended up in love.

Another interesting point is that love end after 3 years. Well… it’s truth. Kind of... what happens is that our body get immune to these drugs; therefore, we are no longer in that mood, but our body create new drugs to replace the other ones, and we fell new feelings like security and being comfortable.

In short, as we can see happiness is up to us (and inside us)
